Nine members of the Manhasset Express girls soccer team and their coach awoke before the sun on Feb. 10 to travel to Brentwood for The Ray Perez Memorial Indoor Soccer Tournament. The team expected fun, but since the other teams usually played in more competitive divisions and some were older, no one predicted going home with trophies. Their Olympic pride, spirit and skill helped them get the silver.

Forwards Eileen Ward and Lena Carlucci found the net most often for the Express with the help of sisters Hannah and Liz Pavlovich. Defenders Kate Gilman and Jessica Hannan helped move the ball out of Express territory. Kate was deservedly named "Best Defender" in the tournament. Keeper Joanna Trigg notched a shut out and many saves. Annabel Murphy and Francesca Capone showed their skill in numerous positions. Coach Robert Pavlovich skillfully guided the team to multiple wins which allowed them to win silver. The team went home tired, but content with its unanticipated achievement.
