Board Hears Superintendent's Report on Census, Elementary Facilities
On Jan. 30, Manhasset's Superintendent of Schools Dr. Lawrence Bozzomo, presented a report to the board of education on the recently completed Manhasset Census and Elementary Facilities Study. He reviewed findings of the demographer's report and yearly update as well as the District findings on housing permits and parochial and private school enrollments.

Louie's Doors to Close on the Zwerlein Family for the Last Time
Once again history is being made and Louie's restaurant, the oldest restaurant in Port Washington, has been sold ending nearly 100-years of ownership by the Zwerlein Family. Louie's Shore Restaurant has been located at 395 Main Street since 1932 but the family business, started by Louie Zwerlein, great-grandfather of the current owner Jay Zwerlein, has been on Manhasset Bay since 1905.

MHS Boys Win Conference Indoor Track Championship
On Monday night, Jan. 28, Manhasset's boys indoor track team won its 24th indoor track championship since this program started in 1978. The athletes out-performed 10 Conference VI schools in a real team effort, scoring in all 12 events. Manhasset's team victory was won by 18 athletes, scoring and making the All-Conference Team.

On The Bay
Ted Himler, who is a seventh-grader at Manhasset Middle School, is planning to participate in the Valentine's Day International Regatta in St. Petersburg, Florida on the weekend of February 9-10. It was at this Optimist regatta last year where the young Himler qualified to compete at the U.S. National Team Trials. This year the Trials will be held in April at the Corpus Christi (TX) Yacht Club.
