Yes, it's true Virginia ... There is a Santa Claus! And he was at the Manhasset Post Office on Saturday, Dec. 15.

On a visit that allowed the "Jolly Giant" to meet more than 300 children, Santa (a.k.a. letter carrier John Hinde) took time out of his busy schedule to meet and greet the children of Manhasset.

"This has been our biggest year ever!" said Manhasset Postmaster Robert Trombley. "Every child got to meet and talk with Santa, receive a gift and photo as well," Trombley added.

"This is the sixth year in a row that Santa has visited the post office and considering all of the events that have occurred since Sept. 11 and how many of Manhasset's residents were personally affected, I think the kids really needed a lift this year," Trombley said. "I don't know who gets a bigger kick out of this ... the kids or us! he added.
