On Monday, Oct. 22, the Manhasset Girls Varsity Field Hockey team completed its last week of regular play to finish the season with a record of 11-1-1. On Saturday, Oct. 13, Manhasset soundly defeated Wheatley 6-0 with goals scored by Breslin (2), Bernard (1), Kang (1), Parasco (1), and Valentino (1). Goalie Piluso helped the team win with 1 save. Monday, Oct. 15 saw the girls pitted against a game New Hyde Park team but Manhasset came out on top with a 3-0 win. Leading the team with goals scored were Buhr (1), McCooey (1), and Breslin (1). The goalies were especially crucial in this game with 4 saves by Lee and 1 save by Piluso.
On Wednesday, Oct. 17, the team faced a tough North Shore team. They fought to a 0-0 score by the end of regular play and went into overtime. The end of overtime still saw the score 0-0. On Friday, October 19, Manhasset played an aggressive Carle Place team and was defeated for the only time this season 0-3. With injuries plaguing the team, the girls rallied as best they could but it just wasn't enough. On Saturday, October 20, Manhasset traveled to Yorktown where they handed the Yorktown team a 1-0 defeat. Bernard scored the game-winning goal.
The last game of the season saw the Manhasset team come back for a big win over East Meadow 6-2. Game winning goals were scored by Bernard (2), Buhr (1), Breslin (1), Kang (1), and Hammer (10). Goalies Lee and Piluso added their efforts to the game with 3 saves, 1 for Lee and 2 for Piluso.
The first game for the Class C Semifinals was held at Manhasset High School on, Oct. 29. Congratulations to coaches Steve Sproul, Brandy Miller, Bethany Braun, and the Manhasset team on an excellent season.
