Helen Engel died in October 2001 at her home of 50 years in Manhasset. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Arthur. Helen is survived by two daughters, Jane Engel Donoghue and Lucy Engel Demert, both of Manhasset. Four grandchildren and two great-grandsons also survive her.
Mrs. Engel was an active member of the Manhasset Community Club, St. Mary's Parish and numerous bridge clubs.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Fairchild Funeral Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Manhasset.
Marianne Furth, nee Biach, 89, of Teaneck, NJ, died on Saturday, Oct. 20.
Born in Vienna, she was a longtime resident of Manhasset before moving to Teaneck seven years ago.
She was predeceased by her husband, Stephen, in 1991. She is survived by her daughters, Frances Levinson, and her husband, Charles, of San Antonio TX, and Harriet (Penny) Van de Water, and her husband, Cole, of Ramsey, NJ. She is also survived by five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Donations in her name may be made to Hospice Program, Hackensack University Medical Center, 30 Prospect Ave., Hackensack, NJ, 07601-9984. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Vander Plaat Memorial Home, Paramus, NJ.
Everett L. Grant died Oct. 14, 2001. A resident of Manhasset for 70 years, he was a chemical engineer from Union College. A member of Sons of the Revolution, Founders and Patriots Association and a PBC Football Coach, he was an ardent golfer for 30 years and a member of The Island's End Golf Club in East Marion. He won the Grandfathers Tournament twice and had two holes-in-one.
He is survived by his wife Rosalyn, sons Everett III and Robert and grandchildren Rett, Tyler, Scott and Jeff. Mass of Christian Burial was at St. Mary's RC Church in Manhasset and burial followed in Nassau Knolls Cemetery in Port Washington.
