The events that occurred on Sept. 11 and thereafter have been difficult for everyone in the Manhasset community. Like everyone else involved in the Manhasset community, the Manhasset School Board, administration and staff were stunned by this horrific act.
We have all worked diligently over the past several weeks to put the pieces back together and to provide as "normal" as possible an operation of our schools.
I have been an educator for over 30 years; I have had the privilege to work in several fine communities, but I have never been prouder to be the superintendent of schools and a member of a community, than I am now as superintendent of the Manhasset School District.
The deportment and professionalism of the teaching and support staff on Sept. 11 and thereafter has been a source of inspiration to me. The help and support that the school district and its children have received from the community, and particularly the SCA leadership --Michelle McGann, Samira Geiger, Lois Morelli, Gail Cunningham and Mary Fran Jeffrey - has been outstanding.
I know it will take a long time for the community to heal all of its wounds. But, I can assure you that the children are safe and secure, not only because of the schools and our wonderful staff, but because of the support and nurturing that they get in our homes, and throughout the Manhasset community.
Thank you for your outpouring of support and caring.
Lawrence E. Bozzomo
