Monica R. Torpe of Manhasset died on Sept. 24, 2001. She is survived by her husband, George; children Jean Brovig, James and George Torpe; grandchildren Kristina, Erik, Dea, Jennifer, George Christopher, Amy, Michael, Matthew and Andrew. She was also the mother-in-law of Chris, Ellen and Maura and the sister-in-law of Mildred and Josephine.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Roslyn Heights Funeral Home in Roslyn Heights. A funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, Sept. 29, at St. Mary's R. C. Church in Manhasset with entombment at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury. Donations in her name to St. Francis Hospital or St. Mary's Church, Manhasset, would be appreciated.
