DiNapoli and Suozzi Faceoff Next Tuesday
''We want to see a new day for Nassau County,'' said Assemblyman Thomas DiNapoli of Great Neck, as he prepared for the primary challenge to his candidacy for Nassau County Executive. In an interview just before the Sept. 11 primary, Mr. DiNapoli spoke confidently of his ''leadership skills,'' unifying and strengthening the Nassau Democrats when serving as their chairman, and his ability to ''work across party and jurisdictional lines,'' working with Governor Pataki and the Republicans to establish an oversight board and bring $105 million in aid to the beleaguered Nassau County.
Board of Ed and Teachers' Union Agree to Three-Year Contract
The Manhasset Board of Education and the Manhasset Education Association (MEA) have reached a tentative agreement to a new three-year contract effective July 1, 2001, through June 30, 2004. The MEA is the bargaining unit for the district's 248-member teaching staff. Its membership includes certified teachers.
Bullets on Target for USA Cup Final Four
This summer when the 17th annual USA Cup soccer tournament was held at the National Sports Center in Minneapolis, MN, the team representing the Division One trophy flight from New York was our own 16-year-old girls' Manhasset Bullets squad. From July 15 - 21 the Bullets joined 800 teams from 38 states and 16 countries that played more than 2,000 games over six days on 52 fields.
On The Bay
Manhasset Bay was a busy place last weekend - there were the spectator boats for the Knickerbocker Cup, and the one-design boats, which race every weekend, plus boats competing in the Manhasset Bay Challenge Cup. Our harbor was absolutely stunning with so many yachts enjoying her beauty, just the perfect way to spend a Labor Day weekend.
