Waldbaum's Americana Days Are Numbered
As has been expected for some years, it is now definite that the Waldbaum's supermarket will leave Americana Manhasset in March, 2002. At a town board meeting on Aug. 21, Americana officials presented a site plan for the premises after the supermarket closes. The site plan was approved unanimously by the board.

Lakeville AMEZ Church Plans Major Cleanup
The Lakeville AMEZ (African Methodist Episcopal Zion) Church on Community Drive in Manhasset is planning a major cleanup this Saturday. In recognition of its designation as a National Landmark, members of the community have offered to help the small church congregation with its cleanup efforts. Pastor Archie Cherry states: "Some of you have visited recently and offered your assistance because of our designated National Landmark status. This we appreciate and want to continue our relationship with you. It is part of our goal to make this area a place of pride, solitude and hope for this community and we need you and others in order to do this. Let us begin with this event and continue into next year, seeking assistance in goods and services for the restoration of our church and parsonage."

St. Mary's CYO Girls Basketball Registration
Registration for girls' travel team basketball will take place on Sept. 5 (Wednesday) from 7 - 8:30 p.m. and on Sept. 7 (Friday) from 6:30 - 8 p.m. Registration will take place in Wiest Hall. Please note that due to CYO time constraints, late registrations will not be accepted, so please make all appropriate arrangements.

The America's Cup Jubilee, in Cowes, Isle of Wight from August 18 - 25, a regatta that celebrated 150 of America's Cup racing, has come and gone. From the Opening Ceremony with Prince Philip recognizing every 11 winning America's Cup skippers, all of who are in the Hall of Fame, to the final Closing Ceremony with a parade of boats passing in front of Princess Anne, each day brought spectacular activities that surpassed anyone's expectations.
