Three Manhasset lacrosse players have been selected to be members of the women's lacrosse team and will represent Long Island in the Empire State Games to be held from July 25 to July 30 in Rome/Cortland, NY. Each year 30,000 athletes, male and female, engage in tryouts for a chance to participate in the Empire State games in three separate divisions-scholastic, open and masters divisions.
Following a tryout involving approximately 320 Nassau and Suffolk top-flight lacrosse players, Kate Breslin, a junior at Manhasset High School, Katie Killeen, a senior at Manhasset High School and Morgan Molinari, a Manhasset resident who is a senior at Sacred Heart Academy, were selected to be members of the 20-player Long Island lacrosse roster.
Kate Breslin will play midfield on the squad. This past year, Kate received an All-American (honorable mention) designation following the Manhasset High School lacrosse season. Kate was also a member of the New York State National team, which played in the National Tournament at Lehigh University over the Memorial Day weekend.
Katie Killeen will play third-man defense for the Empire State team. Katie was also a member of the highly successful Manhasset High School lacrosse team, which finished with an 18-2 record. She received All-County (honorable mention) honors and was also a member of the New York National Team which participated in the National Tournament at Lehigh University.
Morgan Molinari, the third Manhasset resident on the team, will play attack. Following Sacred Heart's lacrosse season, Morgan was named the Most Valuable Player in the Catholic High School Lacrosse League as well as being named to Newsday's All Long Island Team.
