In what has already been a spectacular year overall for baseball in Manhasset, the 8-year-old boys' summer team won a best of three sectional tournament in the American Amateur Baseball Congress (AABC) in Brooklyn last weekend. The boys will play in the North Atlantic Regional Roberto Clemente Tournament, to be held July 19-22 in Allendale, NJ.

Manhasset lost the first game on Saturday, July 14, with a score of 12-10, to the Our Lady of Grace/Gil Hodges Brooklyn 8 year olds. They needed to win a doubleheader on Sunday to advance. With their true grit and determination, the kids came out swinging. They scored 8 runs in the first inning, en route to a 14-0 victory. They then took the championship game 13-5, thus earning the distinction of being the first Manhasset baseball team to represent our town in a regional tournament outside New York state.
