We are enjoying the beautiful days of summer and with them, the sports of summer. Many and varied as are the sports played during the school year, it seems there are even more in the summer. There are the PAL and CYO teams, the swim teams and sailing teams, the tennis players and the golfers. We here at the Manhasset Press love to receive the reports you send us of the teams. A problem arises when some parents and/or coaches are more diligent about reporting on their team's activities than are others. We often receive phone calls from irate parents who state that we have printed the activities of another team in their children's league but not theirs. That's where the problem comes in. As stated on page one of today's paper, there are 1100 boys and girls who play baseball or softball, 800 who play soccer and 900 who play lacrosse in Manhasset. Obviously without a staff of dozens we can't cover them all. We do publish every report of a game that you send us, so if you would like to see your child's team in the paper, give a thought to doing a little write-up and sending it in. It doesn't have to be long or exhaustive--just a few lines to keep your neighbors informed. They'll enjoy reading it and we enjoy publishing it.
