Police Officer Is Honored in Manhasset
To the stirring strains of the Wearing of the Green and the Minstrel Boy played by the bagpipers of the Nassau County Police Department, police officers assembled at Mary Jane Davies Green in Manhasset on June 15 to honor a fallen comrade. The ceremony was part of a series of such events taking place throughout Nassau County. Police Officer Coote was killed in 1961 trying to stop an armed robbery of the then Food Fair supermarket in what is now the Filene's shopping center. Signs in memory of Officer Coote were attached to Plandome Road street signs in the central portion of Manhasset.

St. Mary's High School in Manhasset held its commencement on June 2 at Tilles Center, C. W. Post Campus of Long Island University.

MHS Boys Varsity Lacrosse Wins Nassau County and Long Island Championships
In a season that could have been borrowed from a movie script, the Manhasset Indians captured the Nassau County Class C/D Boys Lacrosse Championship for the first time since 1995. The team went on to be crowned Long Island champions and prevailed in the New York State East Region before being edged out by a goal in the New York State Lacrosse Championship final.

Sportime at Roslyn Serves Tennis Luncheon of Champions
Major league ladies feast in the festive Sportime luncheon lobby while waiting their turn to play round robin doubles on all 9 Har-Tru clay courts. League director and club photographer Karen Marlib Palevsky coordinated doubles action throughout the day, rotating members on and off the courts for tennis, lunch and grand prize presentations at 1 p.m.
