  • NEWS: Groundbreaking for Harbor Ridge: First Lifecare Community in County

    Reminding over 150 guests that Long Island is home to one quarter of a million people over the age of 65, the fastest growing segment of the population, Jeff Ferguson, executive vice president and general manager of Marriott Senior Living Services, declared that "Harbor Ridge is an idea whose time is not only right, but it is located perfectly to help keep seniors in the area that they know and love." Marriott Senior Living Service will manage the full-serve, resident-owned community and health center when it is completed. They hope it will open by early 2003. FULL STORY

  • NEWS: Bruce Bent Meets Anton Editors

    The Republican and Conservative Party candidate for Nassau County Executive, Bruce Bent, met with Anton Newspapers editors on Friday, June 8, to discuss his vision for the county and his understanding of the job. "The first issue is fiscal responsibility," he said. "We can't do anything about (fill in the blanks) until we get our house in order. And it's not astrophysics.   • SPORTS: Soccer Club Announces Registration for Fall Soccer

    Registration for fall soccer will be held on Thursday, June 14, at Munsey Park School cafeteria between 7:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. Manhasset Soccer Club is looking for volunteers. Anyone interested can sign up at registration. FULL STORY

    Bay racing is in full swing. The results for the Memorial Day weekend of May 26-28, starting with Saturday, May 26: Only three Sonars sailed. The finishers: 1. Sounder, #652, Rick Jordan, 2. Weekend Warrior, #421, Dan Simon/Bill Simon, and 3. Elusive, #316, Ed King/Mary Lu Dempsey. On Sunday, May 27, RC ran three races. Results for the first and second race were the same: 1. Delight, #396, Bob Kirtland, 2. Sounder, and 3. Housemartin, #375, Greg Danilek/Beth Danilek. The results for the final race of the days: 1. Housemartin, 2. Delight, and LaurieB, #356, Bob Baskind. On Memorial Day, May 28, there was only one race. Finishers: 1. Delight, 2. Weekend Warrior, and 3. Elusive. Knickerbocker YC was the Race Committee for all three day. FULL STORY
