Raymond Bostwick Patten of Beverly, MA, formerly of Manhasset, passed away on May 8. He was 85 years old and had been a resident of Manhasset for 40 years.
Mr. Patten grew up in Port Washington. He graduated from Port Washington High School and The University of New Hampshire. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame at Port Washington High School and at The University of New Hampshire for his athletic accomplishments.
He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Philippines. He was discharged as a major in the U. S. Army.
Mr. Patten was the Eastern Director of Sales for Curtis Publishing Company and Ladies Home Journal magazine before his retirement in 1980.
He is survived by five children: Roderick B. Patten of Briarcliff Manor, NY; Dudley P. Goettelmann of Manhasset; Parnell P. Hagerman of Wenham, MA; Perry P. Ormiston of Duxbury, MA; and Blair P. Kaiser of Denver, CO. Fifteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive him.

Mildred A. Hallmark, formerly a resident of Manhasset and Port Washington, died on June 4, 2001, in Ridgewood, NJ, after a short illness. A graveside service will be held for her at Nassau Knolls Cemetery in Port Washington at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 11. While living in Manhasset, Mrs. Hallmark was a parishioner of St. Mary's R. C. Church and a member of its Rosary Society for more than 40 years. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Franklin (Jack). She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jacquelyn and Arthur D. Ryan of Ridgewood; by her grandchildren, David, Blair and Morgan Ryan; by her sister and brother-in-law, Marguerite and Les McMullan of North Brunswick, NJ, and her brother, Alfred E. Diorio of Rehoboth Beach, DE. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Feeney Funeral Home in Ridgewood.
