American Legion Post 304 Plans Memorial Day Parade
Richard E. Miller, Commander of the Manhasset Post 304, American Legion and Edward Gaus, parade chairman, have announced the parade order and schedule for the traditional Manhasset Memorial Day Parade, and for the attendant memorial services. All Manhasset residents, their families and friends are invited to join the legion in this remembrance of the great sacrifice of these American heroes. The theme of the parade this year - the Dawn of a New Century - is a reminder of the hope this new century brings toward peace and justice throughout the world. The ultimate sacrifice made by so many in the last century cannot be forgotten and we honor all of those who have served our country.
CASA Games Energize Community
The Manhasset community turned out in support of the first CASA Games on Friday, May 18. The Games drew a large crowd to the MHS gym for the Student/Faculty Basketball Game and the "Just Say Hoops!" three-on-three tournament, in which over 65 teams competed. The Games benefited the Manhasset Community Coalition Against Substance Abuse (CASA). CASA is a new partnership formed by educators, parents and the community to combat the problem of alcohol and substance abuse among the town's young people.
