The Manhasset High School Golf Team kicked off its season with two big victories at Plandome Country Club. On Tuesday, April 3rd, the team defeated Port Washington by the score of 8-1. Senior Scott Pierangelo and freshman Anthony Figlia both fired 4-over par 40's to lead the way.

Two days later, the team faced Syosset, the two-time defending Long Island Champions. The result was similar to the previous match - a resounding victory for Manhasset. The team fired solid scores throughout the entire lineup: junior Hunter Semels shot 37, senior Cliff Ryan: 40, Scott Pierangelo: 38, and Anthony Figlia: 41 en route to a 7-2 win.

This is nearly the 30th year that the Manhasset Golf Team has played its home matches at the challenging Plandome Country Club. The undulating fairways and quick greens at Plandome always cause trouble for the opposing teams - in fact, Manhasset has amassed a near perfect record at Plandome throughout the past five years. The team deeply appreciates the generosity of Plandome Country Club and its members, and always plays golf with a deep respect for the course.

This year's squad is one of Manhasset's strongest in years. Cliff Ryan, Hunter Semels, and Scott Pierangelo provide a great deal of playing experience that should carry the team far. Danny Higgins, Anthony Figlia, Pat Anglin and Pat Kelly all add consistency to the middle of the lineup, while Brian Lee, Ray Musalo, and Pat Conroy contribute additional leadership.

Meanwhile, newcomers Lorenzo Napolitano and Nick Christopher provide versatile shotmaking that should help the team win a number of matches.
