Hometown Hero Saves a Life
Most Manhasset residents know John Hinde as Santa Claus. He's the gentleman who greets the children at the Manhasset Post Office every Christmas, has his picture taken with the children and gives them a small gift. John acted as a saint in real life last week and has been receiving plaudits ever since.

Winrow Elected Park District Chairman
Edward Winrow, the Manhasset Park district commissioner with the most seniority, won the support recently of his two fellow commissioners and has been elected chairman of the board. The chairman presides at the district's public meetings, which are conducted twice a month, and has significant input on the agenda items that come before the board of commissioners.

Manhasset Girls PAL Lacrosse
Girls lacrosse for first and second grades will begin on Saturday, April 21, at Manhasset High School Girls Field. Time of clinic will be 11 a.m. with all girls dressed appropriately for field play and their "Girls" lacrosse sticks cut to 36 inches.

Spring appears to have arrived on Manhasset Bay. As gardeners search for evidence of new growth on trees and shrubs, boaters are populating local boatyards, preparing their boats for launch. It is a busy and exciting time by the water, as thoughts turn to the first sail of the season. This year that first sail will be especially sweet after the long and harsh winter we have endured.
