I overheard probably the most racist comment I have ever heard while on the commuter train from Manhasset to Penn Station this morning. A "gentleman" was discussing Tiger Woods victory at the Masters over the weekend, and he was scoffing at the notion that some people believed he won the Grand Slam of golf. Actually, he pointed out, Tiger may have won four consecutive majors, but they were not won in the same year, so no Grand Slam. He ended this derision with the comment, "Well, he can't play at my club, anyway." I truly hope that this "gentleman" belongs to a club that is not in our community.
