During April and May the Town of North Hempstead Highway Department will be performing extensive road repair work in the Manhasset area.
Work to be performed includes the complete repaving of Bayview Avenue between Plandome Road and Shorehaven Place as well as the repaving of several streets in the surrounding area: Bayview Court, Buckingham Place, Highland Terrace, Hillside Avenue, Locust Street, Mora Court, Travers Street and Wedgewood Court.
A portion of the work on Bayview Avenue is being funded through the New York State Department of Transportation Multi-Model Program funding which was secured by the Town of North Hempstead with the assistance of Assemblyman Thomas DiNapoli.
It is expected that the Highway Department crew will be in this general area or at least two months and the work on Bayview Avenue should begin during the week of April 16. During this time drivers should expect travel delays and various road closures on Bayview Avenue and in the immediate vicinity. Vehicles should plan to use different routes through this area. Some suggested alternate routes include Manhasset Avenue and Northern Boulevard. The town will provide, to homeowners, specific information and instructions. This information will be hand delivered to all houses on the affected streets.
Any questions should be directed to the Town Superintendent of Highways, Thomas Tiernan at 739-6708.
