MCF Presents Checks to Member Agencies
The Manhasset Community Fund directors and guests met for the Fund's annual general meeting on Sunday, March 25, at the Manhasset Public Library. The directors elected officers and heard the latest developments at the 17 local charitable agencies that receive monetary support from the Fund. The highlight of the event was the annual presentation of checks to the agency representatives in attendance.

North Hempstead Celebrates Its Women
The Town of North Hempstead held its eighth annual Women's History Breakfast on March 28. Begun by Supervisor May Newburger, the breakfasts honor North Hempstead residents who have made their mark in various fields, from government, volunteer service, the arts, the professions and athletics. There were 21 new inductees this year, including two from Manhasset, Norma Cohen and Phyllis Kurland.

Sixth Grade Lax Wins Big
Brugal and Morrison's sixth grade lax team opened the season with a feisty 11-1 win over Rockville Centre Sunday afternoon. The display of teamwork was impressive, with five different players scoring, and all 11 goals assisted. Ryan Young and Peter Kratsios led the team with three goals and two assists each, followed by Daniel Karges and Michael Marchasalla with two goals and one assist each. Kevin Young (two assists) was a huge asset, scooping up the ground balls and setting up the offense. John Kucharczyk and Colin Quinn, each with one assist, added even more depth to the midfield play. Daniel Brugal (one goal, two assists) led the attack, moving the ball with consistency and accuracy. John Rapiel, also diligent on attack, was a great contributor to the game.

Miller's Mohicans Open Victorious
It was a cold and blustery day in Rockville Centre this past Sunday as Coach Bill Miller's Manhasset Mohicans Sixth Grade Lacrosse team opened their 2001 spring season.
