Manhasset Clergy Reacts to Bush Plans
Last week, before a gathering of Christian, Jewish and other religious leaders, President George W. Bush announced the creation of a White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives. In a second executive order, he directed the Justice Department, the Department of Education and other federal agencies to help bridge the gap between government and the independent sector. It all sounds reminiscent of the former President George Bush's "thousand points of light."

American Legion Presents Community Service Awards
The Manhasset Post 304 of the American Legion conducted its annual Community Service Awards ceremony on March 7. This program recognizes those individuals who have rendered commendable service to the Manhasset community.

Calling All 7th and 8th Grade Girls Manhasset Softball League Wants You!
It's almost spring and you will want to be outside, the Manhasset Softball League is looking for you to join. All games will be played on the weekends in order not to conflict with school teams. The first game will be played the weekend of April 20, but they need to hear from you ASAP. The teams have already been drafted but there are slots available. The fee for playing is $75 and this includes uniforms, all you need is a glove.

PAL Lacrosse Resumes on Saturday
After the weather caused the cancellation of last week's session, the PAL Saturday Intramural season will resume this Saturday, March 17, at Munsey Park Field. The 3rd and 4th grade Juniors will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. and the 5th and 6th grade seniors will meet from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
