Expanding its horizons as it enters the first season of the new millennium, the Manhasset Soccer Intramural League is going "Globall." In an effort for players to achieve their personal and team goals, the league has turned to Globall Soccer Concepts, a Glen Cove-based organization noted for its exceptional training and consulting practice.
"We are taking a huge step forward as we partner with Globall," said Mike Iordanou, one of the league's most successful coaches and president of the Manhasset Soccer Club. "We feel the teams in our league will benefit a great deal from the expertise offered by the Globall staff." Iordanou explained that Globall will provide the players with the tools needed to be effective on and off the field.
Chuck Sockett, vice president of the Manhasset Soccer Club, pointed out that Globall will provide parents with the necessary guidance and support to help their athletes succeed and will encourage coaches to develop current techniques and tactics. "Globall is a unique organization," he said.
Manhasset parents and coaches of all sports will also be offered the opportunity to attend a seminar and open discussion on youth sports which will be presented by Rick Wolff, noted sports psychologist and WFAN personality. The session will be held on Feb. 28 at 8 p.m. at Immaculata Hall at St. Mary's. This event is being jointly sponsored by the Manhasset Soccer Club, Manhasset Baseball, Manhasset PAL and St. Mary's CYO.
Training for the Manhasset Soccer Intramural League begins on Monday, April 2, as Globall's local Glen Cove staff is preparing a comprehensive program for an anticipated enrollment of 1000 players expected to compete this year. Globall will also conduct a coaches' clinic on Saturday, March 31, at 9 a.m. at Shelter Rock Field.
Registration for the spring season will take place on Sunday, Jan. 28, and Sunday, Feb. 4, from 10 a.m. to noon at St. Mary's Wiest Hall. The spring season opens with Saturday games on April 7.
Globall is recognized and highly respected for its superior training techniques and for creating an environment for all to succeed. Its programs are designed to be versatile, which allows the trainers to meet the individual needs of each team.
The members of the Globall staff have successfully progressed through the ranks of their respective local soccer programs and most have advanced to play professionally, while others represent their country internationally.
