In the '80s he met and married his wife, Nancy. Together they had a son. After working at the company's New Jersey plant he transferred back to the New York office and moved his family to Manhasset in 1987. He developed health problems in the early '90s and suffered a massive stroke in 1997. He continued to advise on business matters and enjoyed the comfort of his family from his residence.
