Renee Smith Hampton of Greenville, Delaware, longtime resident of Manhasset, died on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at the age of 89 at Christiana Hospital. Mrs. Hampton was born in Nutley, NJ, and attended Wilson College before earning her bachelor of arts degree at Cornell University in 1932. Mrs. Hampton was active in Manhasset, serving as president of the Munsey Park Women's Club and for 37 years as a volunteer at North Shore Hospital.

Mrs. Hampton is survived by her husband, Willard G. Hampton of Greenville, DE; daughter Nancy Knowles, St. Michaels, MD; her sons, the Right Reverend Sanford Hampton, Shoreline, WA, Frederick Hampton, Albuquerque, NM, and Lawrence Hampton, London, England; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A fourth son, Bert Hampton, predeceased her.

A Memorial Service was held at Christ Church in Manhasset on Wednesday, Jan. 10. Donations in her name to Christ Church, Manhasset, NY 11030, or Wilson College, Chambersberg, PA 17201, would be appreciated.

Roger L'Hommedieu, formerly of Manhasset, died on Jan. 5, 2001. He is survived by his brother-in-law, Martin Higgins, and by his nieces, Shannon and Kerri Higgins. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Whitting Funeral Home in Glen Head, with interment at Nassau Knolls Cemetery.
