The Fr. William A. Daly Council 2122 of Manhasset-Great Neck once again is sponsoring the annual Basketball Free Throw competition. The contest is sponsored by The Knights of Columbus, with the winners progressing through local, district, county and state level competitors. All boys and girls 10-14 years of age are eligible to participate in their respective age divisions. Last year nearly 232,000 sharpshooters participated in 3,814 local competitions.

"This year the local contest will be held Sunday, Jan. 6, at St. Mary's High School-Maris Hall located at 51 Clapham Avenue in Manhasset. Starting time will be 10 a.m. sharp! Please arrive early to register. Contestants in this first round of competition will be required to attempt 15 consecutive free throws.

The Knights of Columbus is an international Catholic family fraternal services organization with more than 1.6 million members in more than 12,000 local councils. Last year, Knights donated 55 million volunteer hours and $111 million to charitable and benevolent causes, sponsoring projects to benefit their church, councils, communities, families and youth.
