Rolston Edges McGann Out for Park District
In an election that was proportionately as close as the presidential election, Bernard Rolston defeated Stephen McGann for the Manhasset Park District by a vote of 323 to 116. The two were running for a seat on the commission that will be open upon the retirement of Michael C. Adams.

Sweet Sixteen Bullets are Division Two Champions!
In 1993, a group of third-grade girls wanted to play travel soccer in the Long Island Junior Soccer League after winning in CYO to see how good they could be. The players picked their team name, their coach stepped up and the Manhasset Bullets story began. So how have they done? Eight years later, many of the same girls from the dusty field are still playing on the Manhasset Bullets 16-year-old team. This fall, these bold, beautiful, blazing Bullets captured the Division Two championship of the Long Island Junior Soccer League for their fifth division championship in the league!

The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron has formally accepted the challenge from the New York Yacht Club for the 31st America's Cup regatta in Auckland, New Zealand in 2003. The Commodore of the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, Peter Taylor, confirmed the acceptance of the challenge to the Commodore of the New York Yacht Club, George Isdale, Jr. in a letter dated Dec. 12. In other America's Cup news: the America's Cup Arbitration Panel confirmed the validity of the Swiss Challenge for America's Cup 2003. Readers may recall that the issue with the Swiss Challenge involved the AC Deed of Gift that states that all organized yacht clubs must have a regatta on ocean water or on an arm of the sea to be entitled to the right of sailing a match for the cup.
