Dems Pass Budget Gulotta Calls Unacceptable
On Thursday, Oct. 26, the Democratic majority of the Nassau County Legislature adopted a $2.2 billion budget that they say will return fiscal stability to the county through the elimination of government waste, consolidation of departments and a 15.4 percent property tax increase that will generate $65 million in new revenue. The property tax increase is just on the county section of the total tax bill and amounts to approximately a 3 percent increase in a homeowner's total tax, estimated to be about $155 a year for the average homeowner.

Munsey Park Garden Club Joins Chamber of Commerce to Plant Welcoming Garden at Shelter Rock Road
The planting party, Sept. 22, led by Mrs. Lee Martin included Nancy Blum, Fran Bourguet, Vera Pafumi, Ida Perez and Helen Passauer. The Manhasset Park District was represented by Commissioners Patricia Roberts and Edward Winrow with Russell Callery, James McKenzie and Pritipaul Narian, joined by Richard Dundore, chamber co-president and Fred Geiger, treasurer.

Manhasset Boys Cross-Country Team Led by Matt Gallagher
Matt Gallagher (12) has won two of five league meets to lead Manhasset to a 10-2 record, second in Division 4A and 3rd in Conference IV. Manhasset would return four of the top five runners from the championship 1999 season but despite runners missing the season because of injuries, the 2000 season cross-country team had an excellent season.
