On the Bay
The 22nd Annual Manhasset Bay YC Fall Series, held over two consecutive weekends, Oct. 14-15 and 21-22, concluded on Sunday, Oct. 22, after four days of glorious sun and variable wind conditions. One hundred four boats, mostly from the metropolitan area, but a few from as far away as Chicago, competed in 11 divisions on Long Island Sound east of Execution Rock. The first weekend the wind was light, forcing the Race Committee to postpone the start of the race on Sunday, Oct. 15, but by the end of the first weekend, three races were completed. Sailing conditions improved on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 21-22, as a cool front brought more wind to Long Island Sound.
