Assemblyman DiNapoli's district includes Great Neck, Manhasset, Port Washington, North Hills, and parts of Roslyn and Albertson. If you chanced a moment's glance while passing the bay during the summer, from the distance you could easily have spotted them from any vantage point along the water's edge. Swooping, circling or beelining for the shore, they were usually in groups, usually together, but not always because in every group there is the occasional maverick who can't resist cutting across the water, breaking away from the crowd. The sunny, breezy days are naturally the best, but the hardier, more seasoned of these enjoyed the challenge of rain drenched days on the water almost as much. Last Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 23-24, was a rainy, dreary kind of weekend, just the opposite of the spectacular sun-filled days enjoyed last week.
