MTA Long Island Rail Road Port Washington Branch service will be suspended on Saturday, Aug. 19 and part of Sunday, Aug. 20. MTA Long Island Rail Road Port Washington Branch service between Great Neck and Port Washington will continue to be suspended through early Monday morning, Aug. 21. During this time, various construction programs will take place along the branch including the installation of a new signal and interlocking system between Great Neck and Port Washington, the replacement of switches in the Shea Stadium area, work on LIRR bridges at Manhasset Avenue in Manhasset and Stonytown Road in Plandome and track work in the Auburndale Station area.
The work will take place in two phases.
Please one will take place between 12:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 19, and 6:30 a.m., Sunday, Aug. 20. During this time, there will be no train service on the Port Washington Branch. Alternate service will be available by using special MTA Long Island bus service that will operate between Port Washington and Flushing Main St. along Northern Blvd. and Port Washington Blvd. every 15 minutes. At Flushing Main St., customers can transfer to the MTA New York City Transit Number 7 Subway to Manhattan. The bus stops will be at the following locations.

In addition, customers can use existing MTA New York City Transit Q12, Q13, Q28 and MTA Long Island Bus N20 and N21 service to travel to the Main St., Flushing MTA New York City Transit Number 7 Subway Station. MTA Long Island Bus and MTA New York City Transit at Flushing Main St. will accept monthly and weekly LIRR commutation tickets. Other customers must have either Metrocards or exact change ($1.50). Customers can avoid delays by utilizing train service from Mineola, Merillon Avenue, New Hyde Park or Oyster Bay Branch stations.
During phase two there will be no train service between Great Neck and Port Washington from 6:30 a.m., Sunday, Aug. 20, through 12:30 a.m., Monday, Aug. 21.
Customers will board buses and vans at Great Neck to continue their trips to Manhasset, Plandome or Port Washington.
Customers will board buses or vans at Port Washington, Plandome or Manhasset for service to Great Neck where they will board trains to continue their trips. Westbound buses and vans will depart at regular train times. Customers will board extra trains at Great Neck and arrive at Penn Station 30 minutes later than normal. Timetables dated Aug. 19-20 will be available at Penn Station and Port Washington Branch stations.
