BZA Grants King Kullen Conditional Use Permit
The Town of North Hempstead Board of Zoning Appeals has granted King Kullen the conditional use permit it requested at the June 28 meeting. At that time the BZA reserved decision. The announcement that it had been granted was made at the July 19 meeting. After more than a year of denied appeals and other hearings, the North Hempstead Town Board in April 2000 passed a resolution granting Manhasset Ventures LLC Northtown Realty rezoning of the property on which the developer wishes to build a King Kullen supermarket. The next step in the process required Manhasset Ventures (Kimco/King Kullen) to come before the BZA for a conditional use permit.

Dozens of landscapers and residents appeared at this month's meeting of the Village of Flower Hill to voice concern regarding provisions set forth in the village's recently adopted code that regulate the landscaping industry as it operates within the village.

Manhasset Girls Softball Wins District Championship
The Manhasset PAL Girls Softball team won its district championship with an exciting 9 to 8 victory over a worthy Merillon opponent. The next round of the Williamsport Little League tournament has the girls playing for the County championship. To get to the district championship game the girls defeated Albertson by a 20 to 10 margin. The game against Albertson started with Albertson jumping out to a 6 to 1 lead. Manhasset fought back and exploded with a 10 run inning that put the game away for good.

The Mets capped a successful softball season in the Manhasset Girls Softball League 2nd/3rd grade division by participating in a team mother-daughter game. The result of the game is a well guarded secret.
