Publisher Karl. V. Anton, Jr. Dies at 81
Karl V. Anton, Jr., publisher and editor-in-chief of Anton Community Newspapers, died Saturday morning at his home in North Merrick with his wife Angela Susan Anton by his side. His death followed a short illness of cancer. He was 81 years old.

During the darkest blitzkrieg days of World War II in England, when London was on the verge of collapse, Winston Churchill made one of the most inspirational radio addresses to the nation...a talk widely credited with turning around the war effort and saving the nation. His concluding remarks were: "We will fight the enemy in the trenches, on the beaches, in the air, on the seas, everywhere...and we will never quit. For on the athletic fields of Eton the character and resilience of our nation has been determined."
