The Manhasset Yankees won the girls' 6, 7, 8th grade softball championship today over the Manhasset Cardinals with a final score of 10-0. The Yankees had been on a roll, winning the last game of the regular softball season followed by three consecutive play-off victories to capture the championship. Highlights of the game included brilliant pitching by Alexandra Conrad and Sarah Kilkenny, superb fielding by everyone on the team, along with timely hitting by the Manhasset Yankee "Bombers," Caroline Abbott, Julia Culkin, Katherine Despagni, Ariana Izzo, Jessica Pinckney, Casey Polcari, Stephanie Savage, Taylor Stoessel, Liz Wagner and Catherine Wolinski. The coaching staff consisting of Jim Wagner, Tom Despagni, Mitch Pinckney and Dave Kilkenny were very proud of the efforts put forth by the team all season long and look forward to another successful season of Manhasset softball next year.
