Led by seven boys from Manhasset, the Buckley 5th and 6th grade lacrosse team completed an undefeated season recently with a 7-5 victory over archrival Green Vale. The boys, Matt Sutherland, Matt Decico, Michael Brennan, James Melvin, James Donohue, John Kucharczyk and Michael Marchasalla are all products of the Manhasset PAL program.

The last Green Vale game was the closest of the season for Coach Matt Leaf's charges. The seesaw battle saw Buckley's Matt Sutherland dominating the game offensively with three goals and at least two off the pipe. Green Vale had taken a 5-4 lead into the fourth quarter when Michael Brennan picked up a loose ball behind the cage, came around and ripped one into the upper corner for the equalizer. Brennan then hit sniper Matt Decico with a pass and the attackman beat the goalie with a hard low shot to give Buckley the lead. Sutherland then added an insurance goal and the undefeated season was complete. The boys then gave Coach Leaf the traditional Gatorade shower and went home champions.
