Helen Valerie MacBride Hurley died peacefully on June 11, 2000, at the Helen Porter Nursing Home in Middlebury, VT. She was born on Feb. 14, 1915 in Brooklyn, NY, and married Kendrick James Hurley of New Bedford in 1938. The couple lived for many years in Manhasset. Kendrick James Hurley died on April 16, 1974.
Valerie Hurley was a brave and courageous woman throughout the many years of her hospitalization. She loved to laugh and took delight in the small pleasures of life, especially in her family. She will be greatly missed by her children, Francine and Frank Rossi of Huntington, NY, Kendrick Hurley Jr. and Patty Doherty of Killington, VT, and Valerie Hurley and John Kern of Charlotte, VT, and by her grandchildren--Chip Rossi, Timothy Rossi, Courtney Rossi and Erin Kern.
Valerie Hurley will be buried beside her husband in St. Mary's Cemetery in New Bedford, MA. Sanderson Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements.
Dan DiIuglio, resident of Plandome Manor and Palm Beach, died on June 8, 2000. He was born in New York City and graduated from Providence College where he was class valedictorian. He was a highly decorated captain in the U.S. Army, Rangers Battalion, in Germany in World War II. His family is in Who's Who in Connecticut. Mr. DiIuglio was a self-employed manufacturer of sportswear.
He is survived by his wife and two daughters. A memorial service will be held at St. Mary's R.C. Church in Manhasset on June 24 at 1 p.m.
