American Legion Post 304 Memorial Day Parade
Richard E. Miller, commander of the Manhasset Post 304, American Legion and Edward Gaus, parade chairman, have announced the Parade Order and schedule for the traditional Manhasset Memorial Day Parade, and for the attendant memorial services. All Manhasset residents, their families and friends are invited to join the legion in this remembrance of the great sacrifice of these American heroes. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Vietnam War and the 50th, anniversary of the Korean hostilities. The theme of the parade this year then - Let Us Remember - is a reminder to all of the ultimate sacrifice made by so many toward the peace we enjoy today.
Balboni Obtains State Grant for Station West Stairway
In a victory for Manhasset commuters, and especially for the Bayview Civic Association, Senator Michael Balboni has announced that he has obtained a $290,000 New York State grant to fund the construction of a West End staircase for the Manhasset Rail Road station. Part of the larger rehabilitation project currently under way by the Long Island Rail Road, the staircase will afford commuters in the western section of Manhasset safer and faster access between their homes and the trains.
