Board of Education Adopts 2000-2001 Manhasset School Budget
At its April 6 meeting, Manhasset's five-member board of education unanimously adopted the proposed budget for the 2000-2001 school year.

Kimco/King Kullen Gets Change of Zone
After more than a year-and-a-half, Manhasset Ventures,LLC, a subsidiary of Kimco Realty Co., appears to have been given a green light to build a King Kullen Supermarket in the Manhasset Center, better known to the public as Filene's shopping center, at Shelter Rock Road and Northern Boulevard in Manhasset. At issue at the April 18 meeting of the North Hempstead Town Board was a request for a change of zone for the property from "Parking" to "Business A." The change of zone was approved by a vote of three to two with Supervisor May Newburger and Councilmen Angelo Ferrara and James O'Connor voting in favor and Councilwoman Doreen Banks and Councilman Tony D'Urso voting against the motion. The change of zone was approved despite the opposition of a standing-room-only crowd, led by the Terrace Manor Civic Association.

MHS Boys Track Wins 300th
Manhasset 2000 Boys Track Team had already defeated Lynbrook, Roslyn, Great Neck North and Plainedge and on Tuesday, April 11, at Garden City the team outran Garden City, Seaford and Clarke. The team scores were: Manhasset 90, Garden City 84 1/2, Seaford 43 1/2 and Clarke 30. This victory pushed the varsity team over the 300 undefeated mark as the team has not lost a league meet since 1976.
