Lois Winter Beach, a resident of Carmel and Monterey, CA, since 1988, died March 4, at the Monterey Convalescent Hospital; she was 94 years old. Born in New York City July 16, 1905, she was a graduate of Wadleigh High School and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, both in New York City. An accomplished pianist, she played in a number of Broadway shows, including George M. Cohan's 1926 stage play, Yellow. The only child of theatrical booking agent Ernest Wales Winter of Southbridge, MA, and Mabel Keenholts, of Castleton, NY, Lois was married to Val F. Beach, of Memphis, TN, who died in 1949. A homemaker and retired secretary of the Congregational Church in Manhasset, where she lived for more than 50 years, Lois is survived by her son, Dwight, his wife, Catherine, and two granddaughters, Valerie and Desirée Beach, all of Monterey. Interment will be at Nassau Knolls Memorial Park in Port Washington. Contributions in Lois's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation or to a charity of choice.
