On Feb. 6, Manhasset's boys indoor track team placed second in the county championships at Farmingdale College, scoring 34 points. Manhasset's 4x200 meter relay team of Damion Williams (10), Mack Bradley (11), Scott Zaremba (11) and Tory Dean (12) won their county championship by more than two seconds. This fast team had broken the school record back in January. Damion Williams (10) won the 300 meter race (37.2), very fast for a sophomore. Garvey Camilien (11) was second in the 1000 meter run (2:41.5), a personal best time for him.
The field event scoring was led by Jimmy Faello (10) and Carlos Moya (11) in the shot-put. They finished fourth and fifth in the county. High jumpers Garrett Spitz (10) and Michael Connors (9) were tied for fifth place in the county. The team had an excellent meet with only one senior scorer on the team.
The State Qualifiers meet was held on Feb. 18. Dean (55 meters), Williams and Bradley (300 m.), Camilien (1000 m.) and the 4x200 meter relay team (Williams, Bradley, Zaremba and Dean) raced for a chance to go to the New York State meet in Syracuse on March 4. Results next week.
