Tower Foundation Dinner Dance Raises $100,000
More than 300 members of the greater Manhasset community joined together at North Hempstead Country Club on Saturday, Jan. 22. The occasion was the black-tie annual dinner dance sponsored by the Tower Foundation, founded in 1991 and chartered to provide support for our local school system. When all of the conversation, camaraderie, dining and dancing had ended and the numbers were tallied, the evening's fun-filled event had generated $100,000! This figure represents an almost 30 percent increase over the money raised by last year's dinner dance, the previous high.

Edward Cony Dies in California
Edward Cony, former managing editor of the Wall Street Journal, died on Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000 in Santa Cruz, California, at the age of 76 of complications of pneumonia and Alzheimer's Disease. He had moved to California from Manhasset upon his retirement from the Journal in 1988.

Manhasset Wrestlers Off to a Great Start
After a disappointing turnout it was hard to tell what was going to happen to the Indian Wrestlers this season. Five varsity wrestlers from last year decided not to come out for the team. "It was a real let down to everyone," said Coach Guastella." We had counted on these young men to give us a solid team this year."
