North Hempstead Installs Its Leaders
Town Hall in Manhasset was the setting for this year's installation of its elected officials. With the exception of a new town clerk, Michelle Schimel, those being sworn in were incumbents--Supervisor May Newburger, Councilwoman Doreen Banks, Councilman Tony D'Urso and Receiver of Taxes Ann Galante.

Symbolic of the changes wrought by the November election, the induction ceremony for the Nassau County Legislature was chaired by New York State Comptroller Carl McCall, a Democrat. When the perception of government goes from bad to worse, it's bad for all of us in both parties. You are the part of government that is closest to the people. You make a tangible impact on them and you must use that power. Outstanding Athletes Honored
Carol Hotarek and Costa Lippas have been selected as outstanding physical education students by the Nassau Zone of NYS Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. They were honored for their selection at an awards banquet on Dec. 6 at the Milleridge Inn. Pictured with Carol and Costa is Mr. Alan Lowe, athletic coach.
