  • NEWS: Flower Hill Monitors Hospital Construction

    The Village of Flower Hill has engaged the services of a seismologist to take readings at the construction site at St. Francis Hospital. The announcement came at this month's village meeting, where Mayor Jim Damascus explained the action as "a way of keeping an eye on the project." The project, as reported in the Manhasset Press, is the construction of an underground parking lot for the hospital. The next phase of work, due to begin next week, is the completion of the sheeting pile for the first ring of the structure (there will be a second ring needed.) FULL STORY

  • NEWS: LIRR Removes Manhasset Project Contractor

    The Long Island Rail Road has removed ArchCon, the contractor who had been working on the Manhasset station, as of Nov. 24. According to Brian Dolan, spokesman for the railroad, the removal was due to "ArchCon's inability to secure resources and supplies and its non-payment to sub-contractors." As of Nov. 29, the railroad's own engineering forces took over the project and are currently doing concrete work on the east end of the station platform. FULL STORY

  • SPORTS: Sean Landeta Gives Kicking Clinic

    The Munsey Park Women's Club sponsored a children's event on Monday, Nov. 15. Sean Landeta, Munsey Park resident and former kicker with the New York Giants and New York Jets, now playing with the Philadelphia Eagles, gave a kicking demonstration at Manhasset High School. More than 50 youngsters and their parents attended this wonderful event. Landeta volunteered to teach the children different ways of punting the ball. FULL STORY
