  • NEWS: Joe Giaimo Seeks Election to Park District

    Joe Giaimo of Munsey Park, a 24-year resident of Manhasset, has announced his candidacy for election to a three-year term on the Manhasset Park District Board of Commissioners. The special district election will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 14, between 5 and 9 p.m. Manhasset-Lakeville company #1 Firehouse, 35 Bayview Avenue, Manhasset, is the polling place. Mr. Giaimo will oppose incumbent Manhasset Park District Pat Roberts who was appointed to the position in September and is running for a full three-year term. FULL STORY

  • NEWS: Tree Lighting Kicks Off Holiday Season

    Balmy temperatures and a huge crowd made last Friday evening's annual Tree Lighting ceremony one of the most memorable ever and marked the 11th straight time it has been held at the Plandome Road Bandstand. This year's event, in addition to marking the start of the holidays, also marked the beginning of Manhasset's Millennium Year celebration, as indicated in the programs, which were entitled: "Magnificent Manhasset at the Millennium." The Manhasset Park District provided hot dogs for those in attendance as well as distributing souvenir flashlights to all the children. The event was co-sponsored by the Manhasset Park District, the Manhasset-Lakeville Water and Fire District and the Manhasset Chamber of Commerce. FULL STORY

  • SPORTS: Manhasset Football has .818 Win Record

    The Manhasset football program (7/8, J.V., Varsity) finished with a combined record of 18 wins and four defeats for a .818 winning percentage. The four losses came at the hands of the four Nassau Conference IV playoff teams. FULL STORY

  • SPORTS: St. Mary's Hockey Topples LaSalle

    The Gaels recently avenged last year's two losses to LaSalle Academy from Pennsylvania in a very hard fought 5-2 victory. Leading up to this important win, St. Mary's defeated Sachem 4-0 and Kings Park 3-1, two of the leading teams in Suffolk. In the Kings Park game, the Gaels had 53 shots on one of the best goalies in the area. Only three penetrated. FULL STORY
