For the second year in a row, under the able leadership of Coach Bella Totino, the Girls' Varsity Soccer Team will be moved up a conference based on its prior year's record. This year's team which started one senior, nine juniors and one sophomore with great additional depth from a strong bench finished its season on a positive note with two back-to-back victories over Great Neck North, 3-0 and 2-1. The Lady Indians took second place in their conference with 18 points (2 for each win, 1 for a tie) with a conference record of nine wins and three losses. The first place team, Seaford, edged out our girls with a record of nine wins, two losses and a tie for a total of 19 points.
Four team members have been selected by the Nassau County Coaches Association for special recognition. Junior sweeper Katherine Masterson and junior Katie Ward have been named to the All Conference Team. Junior stopper Lauren Raggio has been named to the All Class Team, and junior forward/mid fielder Whitney Blake, who led the team with 18 goals in 12 games, has been named to the All County Team.
Congratulations and special thanks for another great season to departing seniors Colleen Clemency, Emily Eilerman, Katie McKenna, Jen Murphy and Nicole Pallay. The other members of this winning team include forwards Katie Bluhm, Liz Giove, Jessica Lowery and Chrissy Shuman; midfielders Kristy Charbonneau, Lia Harris and Janine Moodhe; and marking backs Katie Cook and Michaela Connerly.
