  • NEWS: Bayview Civic Ass'n Holds SRO Meeting

    At a meeting of the Bayview Civic Association on Oct. 28 which approximately 150 people attended, residents of Manhasset lodged vigorous protests against the proposed senior facility that is being considered by the Village of Thomaston. Thomaston is considering a proposal to rezone the property on the northeast corner of East Shore Road and Bayview Avenue. Approval of the rezoning would lay the legal foundation to allow for construction of a senior compound with 226 units comprising 265,000 square feet and rising above grade as much as six stories. The property was sold by North Hempstead to developer Robert Frommer who subsequently gave an option on it to Savoy Senior Housing. FULL STORY

  • SPORTS: MHS Boys Win X-Country Division

    The Manhasset High School boys cross-country team won its division championship on Friday, Oct. 29, at Eisenhower Park. The team outran six teams (6-0) for the championship. Manhasset 32, Seaford 45, Clarke, 70, Roslyn 84, Bethpage 99, Sewanhaka 99, and Plainedge 101 (low score wins). Manhasset's senior captain, Arthur Rudolph (12) ran 17:38 over the 3.1 mile course for third place; Derek Whelan (10) was fifth; Matt Bognacki (11) was seventh; Kyle Crennan (10) was eighth; Mike Breslin (11) was 9th; Garrett Spitz (10) was 10th and Derek Shriftman (10) finished the scoring.
