On a bright autumn afternoon in front of a large crowd attending the Friends Academy Fair during the second half of the game, the Manhasset Girls' Varsity played one of its best halves of soccer this season.

After a mediocre first half the Manhasset Girls came out for the second half with a very determined attitude, scoring the first of three second-half goals within the first five minutes. The first score started with a pass from right midfielder Kristy Charbonneau up the right side to right forward Katie Bluhm, who one-touched the ball to center midfielder Katie McKenna, who sent the ban up the middle to center forward Whitney Blake. Blake then chested the ball to the ground with her back toward the goal, turned, dribbled around one defender, and while splitting two more defenders from 15 yards out, blasted the ball past the goalie into the upper right hand comer of the net.

The second goal came midway through the second half off a comer kick taken by Whitney Blake. Sending the ball to the front of the goal, several Manhasset players touched the ball and finally Liz Giove, coming in from the left side, made a well placed shot on the ground under the goalie into the left side of the net. With ten minutes left in the contest, the third goal came off an accurate long pass from right fullback Coleen Clemency to a tightly-marked Whitney Blake, who dribbled through three defenders and scored her second goal with a shot to the upper right hand corner of the goal. The defense, consisting of stopper Lauren Raggio, sweeper Katherine Masterson, marking backs Michaela Connolly and Katie Cook, and goalie Katie Ward had an outstanding game, totally shutting down Friends' offense.

The girls remain in contention for the play-offs with a record of 7 wins and 3 losses in conference play.
