Every year the Manhasset Chamber of Commerce honors individuals of exemplary character and achievement who have exhibited leadership in business and community service. This year's honorees are Betsy Chesebrough and Bill Miller of Munsey Park. The cocktail party will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 7, at Strathmore Vanderbilt Country Club. Anyone who has not received an invitation and would like to attend should call the Chamber of Commerce at 627-1098.

A past president of the Manhasset Chamber of Commerce, Betsy took on the formidable task of coordinating many sources to achieve the Adopt-a-Pole program through which Plandome Road has enjoyed flowering hanging baskets on its telephone poles. Betsy planned and coordinated the LIRR Centennial Street Fair in October 1998 and, with her husband Charlie and a dynamic committee, ran two great golf outings for the Chamber. Betsy Chesebrough has worked tirelessly for the Manhasset community, the Manhasset Chamber of Commerce and for Plandome Road. She and her husband are the owners of O'Connell Real Estate Company. This event is your opportunity to applaud her selfless efforts and great success.

William H. Miller and his wife, Angela, are the parents of 11 children whom they have raised in Manhasset. As a young father, Bill had the vision and foresight to realize that to do the best for his children, he had to invest in his community and all its children. His goal was to teach each young person to develop a sound mind and sound body in an environment that promotes a desire to excel. Along the way he helped Manhasset develop a lacrosse program that has resulted in many great high school athletes, numbers of whom have gone on to successful college careers. Bill is being honored for his devotion to all the children of Manhasset through his years of work, first for the Police Boys Club, which later became the Police Athletic League.
