Changes Made in Immunization Requirements
Changes in New York State Public Health Law, regarding the immunization of school-aged children, have been announced by the State of New York Department of Health. Effective Sept. 1, 2000 all children enrolled in seventh grade will be required to be immunized for Hepatitis B. These students will be required to have received three doses of Hepatitis B vaccine before they will be enrolled in class. This law applies to all seventh grade students in New York, regardless of whether they attend public or private school. This vaccination series has been required of all students entering kindergarten since the start of the '98-'99 school year.

Dr. Bozzomo Meets the Community
About 35 community members attended the "Meet the Superintendent" reception held on Wednesday, Sept. 29, at the Manhasset secondary school cafeteria. Dr. Lawrence E. Bozzomo officially joined the district on July 1 following a nation-wide search by the board of education.

Manhasset High School Varsity Sports
The Manhasset Varsity Field Hockey team just finished a very exciting week of play beating their long time rival, Carle Place 1-0. The first and only goal of the game was scored by junior forward Maura Costello in the opening minutes of the game. Maura managed to get a strong shot on cage in a scramble for the ball after a goalie save. The rest of the game Manhasset took a strong defensive stand and held the frogs scoreless for 58 minutes withstanding nine strong Carle Place corners.
