It doesn't seem very long ago that the editor of the Great Neck Record and I, having newly joined the editorial staff of Anton newspapers, found ourselves, writing that the members of the Millennium Class, the Class of 2000, had just entered kindergarten. As the song goes, "turn around, turn around" and they are about to graduate from high school. To them and to all the returning and just-starting-off students, we wish a happy and productive school year. In that spirit, we welcome the following statement from the Manhasset Education Association:

"Many traditionally think of spring as the season of renewal. But for teachers and students, fall is a season of renewal and new beginnings.

"Educators return from summer vacation to the excitement of a new school year. Although we are always surprised at how quickly the summer has passed, we anticipate meeting new students and colleagues, teaching new and renewed curricula, creating innovative lessons and projects for students, and decorating our classrooms for the coming school year.

"As we embark on this school year we face many new beginnings in our school community. With a new superintendent and assistant superintendent at the helm, we hope to experience renewed vision and educational leadership.

"In his opening comments, Dr. Bozzomo presented the District goals. Evident in these goals are his respect for teachers and his willingness to listen to and work with faculty. This sentiment is especially refreshing and further reinforces the feelings of renewal and new beginnings that accompany this season."
